INGREDIENTS

2 oz bourbon

1 oz Treasured Roots Lavender Syrup, made with:

  • 2 tbsp Treasured Roots culinary lavender buds

  • 2 C sugar

  • 1 cup water

 8-10 fresh mint leaves

Crushed ice

Splash of soda water

Garnish - lavender + mint sprigs

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Prepare the lavender syrup: In a small saucepan, bring one cup of water to a boil. Remove from heat and add sugar and culinary lavender buds. Let steep until cool. Strain out lavender buds and store finished syrup in the refrigerator.

  2. Muddle the mint: In a julep cup or rocks glass, gently muddle mint leaves with the lavender syrup. Don't over-muddle - just enough to release the mint oils.

  3. Add bourbon: Pour in bourbon and stir to combine.

  4. Add ice: Fill the glass with crushed ice - mound it up like a snow cone for a classic look.

  5. Top with a splash of soda if desired for a lighter, bubbly twist.

  6. Garnish with a fresh mint and/or lavender sprig - gently slap the mint between your hands to release the aroma before placing it in the glass.

  7. Serve with a straw or julep spoon and enjoy immediately.
